BI Publisher 11g Oracle DB Default Package Field Population Causes XML Generation Error

Symptoms
Creating a new Data Model in BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.
After populating the Oracle DB Default Package field and saving the change.
Testing by attempting to generate XML, receive the following error:
"The XML page cannot be displayed.
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
End tag 'span' does not match the start tag 'img'. Error processing resource 'http://..."
Changes
Before adding the default package, XML data can be generated.
Removing it allows the data to be generated again.
The report has at least one parameter already defined.
(Issue also happens when a parameter is added to a report that has a default package already defined.)
