Orders that are Split During Planning are Not Consolidated With Other Orders Where Equipment Capacity Still Exists (Doc ID 1436694.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Transportation Management - Version 5.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Multiple Orders are planned together in one Bulk Plan. Some or all of these orders are too large for a single Equipment/Shipment and therefore require splitting. The partial leftovers from these splits, are small enough that they could be combined into a single shipment. However, OTM is leaving these partials as separate shipments, therefore having a more costly solution.

To illustrate an example:

Equipment has capacity of 1000 LB
Order 1 - 1500 LB
Order 2 - 500 LB

Order 1 requires to be split as it is too large for one shipment and will have a split shipment with 500 LB. That remainder could be combined with the other order to make a consolidated shipment. However, instead, the planning results in 2 shipments for the first order and another for the second.
