Purpose

 This note explains how different Install Base Transaction Subtype setups affect Service Contracts when an install base instance is created or updated.

Scope

 The following scenarios will be considered:

1. Install Base Instance and Warranty/Extended Warranty Creation.

2. Instance updates as a result of repair or replacement.

3. Instance updates as a result of ownership transfer.

4. Instance expiry.

The note assumes that the reader is familiar with the required Install Base, Order Management and Service Contracts setups and functionality.
