Item Categories Cannot Be Updated Error APP-FND-01564: ORACLE error 24345 in fdlget (Doc ID 1546151.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to query item categories or view category values, the following error is encountered.
Note: The error message popup box may also display the query being executed when viewing the categories if the valueset's validation  type is "Table" (for example).

Error
APP-FND-01564: ORACLE error 24345 in fdlget
Cause: fdlget failed due to ORA-24545: A Truncation or null fetch error occurred

Steps
Either one of the following can result in this error.

1. In Category Codes form
   1. Navigate: Inventory > Items > Categories > Category Codes
   2. Enter/Choose a Structure Name and click Find
   3. Enter the value for Structure Name.
   4. Open the Category LOV, enter % and tab out to see all categories and get the message
2. In Master Items form
   1. Navigate: Inventory >Items >Master Items
   2. Query an item
   3. Choose Tools > Categories
   4. Place your cursor on a Category Set ("Product" in this example)
   5. Open the LOV in the "Category" field for Category Set "Product" and get the error.
