Unknown Member Error In Data Model When Running BI Publisher On Top Of Essbase

Symptoms
Running BI Publisher (11.1.1.6.10) on top of Essbase (11.1.2.2.100) and needs to view a report in BI Publisher that gets data from the Essbase cube.
In order to match this need, one created a data model in Bi Publisher as:
- Created a parameter
- The data set (sql query) is using this parameter in its where clause
Upon entering the query in step 2, one receives the following error:
java.io.IOException: execute query failed[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 96002] Essbase Error: Unknown Member Xxx.0 used in query
One has only received this specific error when using Essbase as data source (no such problem with other source).
