How to Close and Purge Excessive WFERROR Workflows and DEFAULT_EVENT_ERROR Notifications from Workflow (Doc ID 1587923.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 15, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Application Object Library - Version 12.2.4 to 12.2.4 [Release 12.2]
Oracle Workflow - Version 11.5.10.2 to 12.2 [Release 11.5.10 to 12.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This Note provides information on how to identify, close and purge excessive workflow errors (WFERROR) that have system generated (DEFAULT_EVENT_%_ERROR) notifications sent to SYSADMIN.

System Generated errors can occur for many reasons, including when a metrics server is down, Local or External Event ERRORs, etc. System generated error notifications like these can be raised rapidly and build up over time if nobody is managing SYSADMIN error notifications. These types of notifications do not have parent workflows so they are safe to close and purge as long as they are not still occurring.

This note is not intended for workflow error notifications that are created from other workflows, meaning the WFERROR has a parent_item_type and parent_item_key.
