Last updated on DECEMBER 10, 2024

Applies to:

Symptoms

When trying to update Shippable flag in the Master Items form (INVIDITM), the following error occurs:

"FRM-40200: Field is protected against update."

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Go to: Inventory

2. Navigate to: Items > Master Items

3. Query the related item.

4. Go to Order Management Tab

5. Try to update the item attribute, get error.

Note: Also might encounter below error when trying to update Shippable flag in the Master Items Form:
"The Fields can not be updated as there are open sales orders lines."

Changes

New attribute validation: if Internal Ordered flag is "Yes", then Shippable Flag has to be "Yes", was introduced in 11.5.0 through Bug 5533216
A generic data fix patch is given through Bug 8396621 (unpublished) done in 12.0.7, through Bug 8396860 (also unpublished) in 12.1 and changes went internally in to 12.1.2.
Existing items might have Internal Ordered flag as "Yes" and Shippable Flag as "No".
Such items have to be updated with a valid combination to avoid data discrepancy.
