"libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to" When Applying Forms Patch (Doc ID 1923486.1)

Last updated on JUNE 02, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 12.1.2 to 12.1.3 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail@GLIBC_2.4'
/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__fprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'
/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__sprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'

Symptoms

Applying <Patch 6400501> (per forms upgrade <Note 437878.1> Oracle Database 11g need to download <Patch 6400501> for Database 10.1.0.5, and apply it to the OracleAS 10.1.2 Oracle Home) and getting the following errors:

/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail@GLIBC_2.4'
/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__fprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'
/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to `__sprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'

Several documents suggest to change a link in /usr/lib (i.e. Doc ID 761566.1)

unlink /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6
ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6.1 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6

Eventhough the work around works, the work around could get overwritten after OS RPM patching and could cause problems for other software running on the server.

Changes

Applying patch 6400501 per forms upgrade <Note: 437878.1>
