On : 12.1.3 version, Lead Management
We have noticed that there is no continuity in the LEAD_ID/LEAD_NUMBER generated by the system when we create a lead or opportunity. It continues to increase by 1 for some time, and then suddenly will increase by couple of thousand & then back to increase by 1.

We would like to understand the logic for Lead and Opportunity Numbering. Also, From where it is controlled ? Is there a patch to fix the sequential numbering?
