UK : Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is linking absences that are more than 8 weeks (56 days) apart (Doc ID 1954041.1)

Goal

When creating a second sickness absence, that is outside of the legislative 56 days PIW of a previous absence, the absences are being linked.


STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. From UK HRMS Manager responsibility
2. Create an initial absence record
3. Create a second absence record that falls outside of the 8 week limit, by
1 day, and check the piw details. ie the second absence is created with a start date 57 days after the end of the first absence.


Please explain why this linking is occurring under the circumstances above.
