Pivot Table Gives Wrong Column Sums When Data From Subject Area (Doc ID 2117766.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 01, 2023

Applies to:

BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) - Version 11.1.1.9.x to 11.1.1.9.x [Release 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In BI Publisher 11.1.1.9.5:

1. When a built-in Layout Editor template report with a Pivot table is run against a Subject Area the Totals do not sum up correctly.

2. When the same XPT template report is run against a Data Model using a SQL Query data set to the same data source and table
then the Pivot table Totals DO sum up correctly.

3. This issue can be replicated from OBIEE's BI Answers:

a. Under 'Columns and Measures' an 'Aggregation Rule', has the 'Report-Based Total' option as the Default - when running the Subject Area from BI Answers it generates the SAME INcorrect Totals as from BI Publisher.

b. However, from BI Answers, when CHANGING that 'Aggregation Rule' to REMOVE the 'Report-Based Total' option NOW the Pivot table output sums correctly.
