UPK: How to Change Windows Admin User to an Existing User in Database (Doc ID 2213785.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 01, 2023

Applies to:

User Productivity Kit - Version 12.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When UPK is installed using Windows Authentication, passwords for all users are not stored in the database, only their DOMAIN\USERNAMES are.  If a situation arises where the only UPK administrator in UPK is no longer available (example:  leaves the company), this can lead to a scenario where no UPK administrators can log into UPK.  Without the permissions that a UPK admin has, users cannot be modified.  Furthermore, with Windows authentication and UPK, passwords cannot simply be reset (as again, UPK does not store this information for security reasons).

The following will describe how to modify the existing admin in the UPK database to match an accessible DOMAIN\USERNAME
