3.3 PPR Refactoring

For very large and complex projects, the size of the datasets can be extremely large and require complex processing to summarize the data on multiple dimensions including dates, task structures, currencies, and program structures.

Project performance reporting processes and architecture are enhanced to:

Improve the accuracy and performance when summarizing project data used to report project performance, plan analysis views, and project health status.

Streamline the compilation and display of project information in project plan and reporting views.

Provide a reconciliation report that provides results of completed summary data processing programs.

With the enhanced project performance reporting, core data processing relies on in-database features (OLAP CUBEs) to streamline the programs and phases. New reconciliation reports ensure that you have the information about each processing stage which ensures the correctness of project data.

When you use Enhanced Project Performance Reporting, the data needed to display plan information and analysis reports is available at all times and does not require the execution of any concurrent programs. When your projects are extremely large and complex, you can use the option to defer the automatic rollup and data summarization. You can manually summarize and view the current data by clicking the Summarize button.
