R12: AP: What is The Accounting Date of Multi Period Accounting(MPA) When 'GL Dates' is Set to Originating Day (Doc ID 2307760.1)

Goal

What date is Accounting Date of Multi period accounting(MPA) ,
when 'GL Dates' is set to Originating Day in 'Multiperiod Accounting Assignment' ?

 

Example:

1.Multiperiod Accounting Assignment setup

'Number of Journal Entries' = One Per Period

'GL Dates' = Originating Day 

'Proration Type' = First Period

N:Setup > Subledger Accounting Setup > Accounting Methods Builder> Methods and Definitions > Journal Lines Definitions
5. In the Multiperiod Accounting Assignment form:
a) Assign the header journal entry description for the recognition journal entries.
b) Select the desired option for the 'Number of Journal Entries', 'GL Dates'™ and the 'Proration Type' fields. Refer to the Subledger Accounting Implementation Guide for more details about these options.

 

2.Enter a invoice and validate it

N:Invoices > Entry > Invoices

GL-DATE:03-APR-2010

Invoice Line

  Deferred Option =ON (DEFERRED_ACCTG_FLAG=Y)

 DEFERRED_START_DATE = 15-May-2010

  DEFERRED_END_DATE = 15-Sep-2010

 

3.Create Accounting

4.Confirm the Accounting Date

   1)Query the invoice

   2)M:Tool : View Accounting Events

          View Journal Entries

  Example:

  Accounting Date

  03-Apr-2010

  15-May-2010

  15-Jun-2010

  15-Jul-2010

  15-Aug-2010

  15-Sep-2010

 

But Oracle Subledger Accounting Implementation Guide explains the followings.

•Originating Day:

Multiperiod entries have the same GL date as the originating journal entry. For example, if the
originating entry has a GL date of October 22, the multiperiod entries have GL dates of the 22nd of the ensuing GL periods,such as November 22 and December 22.

Note:
If a transaction calendar is assigned to the ledger,Subledger Accounting uses this calendar to ensure that
the multiperiod accounting journal entries fall on business days.
Options are:
•First Day GL Period:

Multiperiod journal entries have a GL date of the first day of the period. For example, if a
company uses monthly periods, the date is October 1.
•Last Day GL Period: Multiperiod journal entries have a GL date of the last day of the period. For example, if a
company uses monthly periods, the date is October 31.


•Originating Day:

Multiperiod entries have the same GL date as the originating journal entry. For example, if the
originating entry has a GL date of October 22, the multiperiod entries have GL dates of the 22nd of the ensuing GL periods,such as November 22 and December 22.
