R12 Poor Performance Shown While One Generates a Price Book

Symptoms
ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
We took 2 samples of data. One generating price book from a price list that has 2200 lines and other one for price list having 6000 lines
and then comparing with the run of a price book in production that has around 78000 lines.
The run times were 5 minutes for 2200, 20 minutes for 6000 and around 11 Hrs for 78000(production).
