Error When Attempting to Update Item Attributes (Doc ID 2415023.1)

When trying to update the attributes for an item, the following error occurs.

The row of "XXXXXXX" you tried to create already exists. (Where "XXXXXXX" is the attribute group)

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Item Simple Search
Search for the item to be updated
2. Choose the "XXXXXXX" tab for the attribute group
3. Click update
4. Set desired fields
5. Select apply, then error pops up
