General Ledger Standard Reports Showing Some Period Amounts As ******* for Huge Numbers (Doc ID 2554318.1)

Last updated on MAY 26, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle General Ledger - Version 12.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Standard reports such as 'Trial Balance', 'Entered Currency General Ledger' and other reports are showing some amounts as *****  in the report output where the numbers to be displayed are huge.

Such huge numbers may be sourced in incorrect data entry in the subledger modules, eventually being reversed but by using the Switch Debit / Credit (Dr/Cr) method, therefore even if the net balance is zero, the Debits and Credits show huge amounts for the period.

The same issue may occur as a consequence of a datafix executed in subledgers (such as Receivables, Payables, etc.), hence such journals got imported with huge amounts which caused the reports to show the amount as **** while the allocated display space in the report got insufficient.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. General Ledger responsibility > View > Requests > Submit a new request
  2. Run a standard report such as 'Trial Balance', 'Entered Currency General Ledger'
  3. Observe the output, see some accounts reflect ***** instead of the period amounts

Changes

New data entry.
