Oracle BI Publisher Bookbinding Is Corrupting the Generated Report (Doc ID 2857391.1)

Symptoms

When an Overlay Template is applied in a Report generated by BIP the pages all become unreadable.

When an Overlay is applied to the PDF  the headers/footers are backwards text.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1- Download BookbinderProject.zip and BookBinderExamples.zip from https://www.oracle.com/downloads/samplecode/bipublisher-samplecode-downloads.html

2- Unzip them under C:\BIP\Bookbinder for example

3- Navigate to C:\BIP\Bookbinder\Bookbinder Example\Example1 - Simple merge plus front page\

4- Java.exe is in C:\temp\java

5- JAVA_HOME = C:\temp\java

6- Open Windows command line and run:
