Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle iProcurement, Release 12.2.4 and higher, there are junk characters (special characters) in the shopping cart "Description" and "Item Description" fields after returning from the supplier punchout site which is in a non-English language.

It is expected that these junk/special characters will not appear.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Log in to Oracle Applications.
2. Navigate to an iProcurement responsibility > iProcurement Home Page.
3. On the iProcurement shopping home page, click the link to perform the punchout to the supplier site.
4. On the supplier punchout site, select an item and add to cart.  The item is in a non-English language such as Chinese or Hungarian.
5. Perform checkout on the supplier punchout site.
6. After returning to the iProcurement session, view the item in the shopping cart.
On the Shopping Cart pop-up window, the Description and Item Description fields are showing special characters.
Between some of the words in the field values, there is a black diamond with a question mark inside.  Other languages show question mark characters (????).

** The issue occurs when logged in to Oracle Applications using either English language or NLS installed language.
