EAM Asset Will Not Allow Unchecking MAINTAINABLE Because Of Cancelled Work Request

Symptoms
When attempting to un-check MAINTAINABLE on an asset that has a Cancelled request, the following error occurs.
ERROR
Update procedure failed with the following error message: You cannot uncheck the maintainable flag for an asset that has existing open work requests and/or work order.
STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Responsibility: Enterprise Asset Management.
2. Go to Asset Numbers form.
3. Query asset.
4. Try to un-check MAINTAINABLE flag.
5. Receive the above error.
