Native Date Format Is Not Accepted As Parameter in BI Publisher

Symptoms
BI Publisher does not handle native date format.
URL link only works with text (Varchar2) columns. The limitation with this is that the prompt of date type cannot be used.
If one would like to use the same report for different scenarios, at the moment is not possible.
This applies to:
1. User opens report and select the date prompt from calendar.
2. Date prompt is pre populated using URL link.
3. User can use prepopulated date prompt and make a change.
