Symptoms

When updating the Install Base Additional Attribute for an instance with greater than 30 characters the Item/Serial Number Change page has the following error.

The following error occurred:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at "APPS.AHL_PRD_SERN_CHANGE_PVT", line 272

STEPS

Responsibility - Installed Base User > Oracle Installed Base
Navigation - Oracle Installed Base > Quick Find > Item Instance > Query Instance 643067
Click on Instance Description > Click on Additional Attributes
Added greater than thirty characters to the first attribute and click Update

Responsibility - Complex MRO Super User
Navigation - Execution > Production Planning > Work Orders
Open any Work Order
Select Item/Serial Number Change from drop down
Click Go

The following error occurred:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at "APPS.AHL_PRD_SERN_CHANGE_PVT", line 272
