How to Debug Dunning Letters That Fail with Error "XML data generation failed" (Doc ID 2961882.1)

Symptoms

When sending correspondence from Advanced Collections, such as a dunning letter, the Dunning Status report shows the following error for all customer, or only some customers:

XML data generation failed

 
Steps to Reproduce:

Responsibility: Collections Agent
Navigation
: Submit Request

  1. Run the IEX: Send Dunning for Delinquent Customers program so generate dunning letters via Dunning Plans or Run the IEX: Strategy Fulfillment Mailer to generate dunning letters via Strategies.
  2. If using dunning plans, the letter will not generate and will show the error in the Dunning Status report.
  3. If using strategies, the work items will end in error and not send. The error can be seen in the Strategy tab for each customer.
