Absence Element Errors Out In BEE Transfer: "The Absence Duration In Hours Is Greater Than the Actual Time Absent" (Doc ID 297220.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Time and Labor - Version 11.5.9 to 12.1.3 [Release 11.5 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Vacation absences are entered via OTL timecard, then transferred to PUI timecard.
When the timecard data is transferred from the PUI timecard to BEE, they have the profile called HXT_ROLLUP_BATCH_HOURS set to Yes. This means it groups together all element entries for an employee into one Line to be passed into BEE.
When you run the BEE Validation process, this errors with message: "The Absence duration in hours is greater than the actual time absent".

Customer has tried to enter the absence from the Absence Details screen
Here they receive the same message, but it is a 'caution' and you can choose to continue and save the absence and hence create an element entry for that absence record
When processing the absence from  BEE, however, it is a 'fatal error' and it stops the whole batch from transferring.
