R12.2 : GLPURGE: Archive and Purge Program Is Taking More Time To Complete (Doc ID 3010962.1)

Symptoms

GLPURGE Archive and Purge Program  is taking more time to complete.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Archive:
1. Login to General Ledger Super User Responsibility.
2. Navigate to Setup > System > Purge.
3. Select Balances, Journals, or Translated Balances to be archived.
4. Check the 'Archive Balances' box.
5. Select the Balance Type to be Actual, Budget, or Encumbrance. For Budgets, choose which Budget to archive.
6. Enter the periods to archive.
7. Press the Archive/Purge button.
8. Archive process is taking more than 40 hours to complete.

Purge:
1. Login to General Ledger Super User Responsibility.
2. Navigate to Setup > System > Purge.
3. Select Balances, Journals, or Translated Balances to be archived.
4. Check the 'Purge Balances' box.
5. Select the Balance Type to be Actual, Budget, or Encumbrance. For Budgets, choose which Budget to archive.
6. Enter the periods to purge.
7. Press the Archive/Purge button.
8. Purge process is taking more than 10 hours to complete

Below profiles have been already set to recommended values as suggested in the Note: General Ledger FAQ for Archive and Purge (Doc ID 390353.1)

  • GL: Number of Purge Workers (to 2 at least)
  • GL: Journal Entry Purge Set Size (to 1000 at least)
  • GL: Journal LinePurge Set Size (to 10000 at least)
