Unable To Enter A Serial Number In Receipt APP-INV-05577 / DataFix For Current Status = 6 (Doc ID 370309.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to enter a receipt for a serialized item, the following error occurs after entering the serial number. The item in question has not been received and the serial number in question cannot be found in inventory.

Error

APP-INV-05577: You are trying to use one or more serial numbers that are not available for use in this transaction.

 

Steps
1. Goto Inventory > Transactions > Receiving > Receipts
2. Find the related receipt.
3. Check the box to receive items
4. Enter the quantity / subinventory to receive.
5. Enter the serial numbe.r
6. Receive the error.

Business Impact
Due to this issue, users cannot receive the item into stock.
The onhand quantity / available quantity is incomplete within the application.

Verification
The following script can be used to verify your issue is similar to the one in this note.  The script result shows that the status is pending (current_status = 6) for the serial number.  Here is the script:

select *
from mtl_serial_numbers msn
where msn.current_status = 6
and msn.serial_number = '&EnterYourSerialNumber';
