Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 11.5.10.2 to 12.0.6 [Release 11.5.10 to 12.0] Oracle Workflow - Version 11.5.10.2 to 12.0.6 [Release 11.5.10 to 12] Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
What is the Problem?
The workflow status diagram may fail to appear on environments where 11i ATG_PF.H.RUP4 4676589 (and successors) have been applied. This includes Release 12.0.x and R12.1. As of this patch level, the internal functionality of the status diagram changed so that the status diagram is launched using the established Applet Launcher method used by the Oracle Forms user interface. Fundamentally, the OACore java process on the web tier will call the forms launcher URL which may be a hardware load balancer with or without SSL. Certain topologies allow such URL calls effortlessly, but others require review.
The problem is seen in the Workflow form "Status Monitor" After selecting a workflow type and clicking the button to view the status diagram the user may not see the diagram, but may receive any of a number of error messages indicating a failure to display the diagram based on an inability to process the forms launcher URL. These messages are typically, but not exclusively, similar to the following:
You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System Administrator for Assistance. java.lang.NullPointerException
Scope
