Purpose

Upgrading to 11.5.10 or RDBMS 10g or to RDBMS 11g might yield a performance issue that involves pricing. This bulletin will outline recommended patching strategy and additional tasks that will help to improve performance.

Scope

This document is informational and intended for any user.

Root Cause(s) For the Poor Performance:

Poor performance after upgrading to 11g RDBMS

Many View definitions had been changed in 11.5.10 for java engine that made the performance degrade

Hints were added to improve the performance on view QP_LIST_LINES_V.

Few sqls were expensive

Poor performance on queries used for the big search.

Poor performance on statements used by QP: Bulk Import of Price Lists.

As the database is Oracle 10g, the dynamic sampling is defaults to 2 Which resulted in a huge performance issue in API QP_PREQ_PUB.PRICE_REQUEST
As well as some other expensive SQL queries. Full table scans were being done with 10g db

Some queries were expensive because optimizer was not picking correct indexes

Qp Debug files was not logging any time related details for different pricing engine steps like price list search, modifier search etc as used for analysis if an issue occurs.

Poor performance with order import

Price List Setup form shows poor performance on the price list list of values (LOV).
