Purpose

The purpose of this troubleshooting guide is to provide a guidance for diagnosing failures or errors encountered during the installation of the Oracle XML Publisher Desktop.

The Oracle XML Publisher Desktop patch contains the Template Builder and the Template Viewer, two desktop tools that will increase your productivity using XML Publisher. The Template Builder is an extension to Microsoft Word that simplifies the development of RTF templates. It automates many of the manual steps that would otherwise be required. The Template Viewer is a Java application that facilitates the rapid development of templates by providing advanced preview capabilities.

The following patches are available and one should use the version in accordance to the version that is installed on the server:

PatchAbstract
<Patch 5887917> Oracle XML Publisher Desktop Patch 5.6.3
<Patch 5579683> Update For XML Publisher Enterprise / Desktop 5.6.2
<Patch 5027437> Oracle XML Publisher Desktop Patch 5.6.2
<Patch 4561835> Oracle XML Publisher Desktop Patch 5.5.0

<Patch 5579683> Update For XML Publisher Enterprise / Desktop 5.6.2 is not a complete version of the Oracle XML Publisher Desktop but instead it provides additional bug fixes on top of the 5.6.2 release and therefore can only be installed on top of Oracle XML Publisher Desktop 5.6.2
