How To Access a Session Variable In The OBIEE Repository From BI Publisher Reports

BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) - Version 10.1.3.3.2 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Defined a Session variable in the OBIEE Repository for tracking user Authentication details.
Using BI Publisher with BI Server Security. The OBIEE data source connection is defined with the Admin->JDBC setup.
(The username password in the JDBC connection is usually set to Administrator for OBIEE data sources.)
When the client executes a query against the datasource in OBIEE the Session variables for the user limit the data to specific areas defined for this user in OBIEE.
If the same data is accessed from BIP, the user that is used in the JDBC connection (rather than the logged in OBIEE user) limits the
data that the query returns.
Since Administrator is usually used most queries get the defaults for this user in OBIEE.
If the JDBC connection uses a different user (someone other than Administrator, then the data viewed in BIP is dependent upon this user's
defaults in OBIEE.
It seems Session Variable defined in the Repository not passed to BI Publisher.
How can I pass this value to BI Publisher?
