Exadata DB Node failing to boot with kernel panic after taking a Snapshot-based Backup (Doc ID 1536739.1)

Symptoms

The Exadata DB node goes into kernel panic and reboots in a cycle.

The last message prior to rebooting from the ilom console session is kernel panic with mounting /dev/root failed like:

Mounting root file system.

mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: Device or resource busy

 

<snip>

switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
