Oracle VM 3 - Recovering an OCFS2 Filesystem Based Repository After a Partition Table Gets Created on the Physical Disk (Doc ID 1567696.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 12, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.0.1 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

A disk containing the storage repository might get accidentally partitioned. For example, when Oracle VM Server is booted into the Rescue mode.

And on disks with more than 2TB of space, this could cause the OCFS2 metadata to be overwritten by the GPT partition table, that will further make the repository filesystem not mountable.
