How to Move VM's Between Pools on Same or Different Managers (Doc ID 2161856.1)

Last updated on MARCH 01, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.3.1 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.4.4 to 2.4.4 [Release 2.0]
Linux x86-64

Goal

Moving a vm to another pool - on the same or a different manager - is not easily accomplished. Some have attempted this via unsupported methods which have led to various unanticipated problems - e.g. refresh of a repository finding duplicate uuid's of resources. This document demonstrates a method to avoid such problems.
