Oracle VM 3.4.2
Fiber Channel (FC)/SCSI connected storage array with considerable number of LUNs
Symptoms
After newly installing or upgrading to Oracle VM 3.4.2, the length of time to perform storage refresh or physical LUN refresh of a Fibre-Channel (FC)/SCSI connected storage array increases considerably.
The more LUNs/paths/devices and Oracle VM Servers in use, the longer the time it takes for storage/physical LUN refresh to complete.
For example, when previously running Oracle VM 3.4.1, storage refresh of an array with a large number of LUNs took ~50 seconds.
However, after upgrading the server to Oracle VM 3.4.2, storage refresh of the same storage array now took more than 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete.
This issue affects new installations of, as well as upgrades to Oracle VM version 3.4.2.
Note that this issue does not affect iSCSI-based storage arrays.
Changes
Oracle VM, specifically, Oracle VM Server, is newly installed with or upgraded to version 3.4.2.
