Oracle Linux: Multipath Displays Device UUID Instead of User Friendly Name (Doc ID 2214221.1)

Symptoms

On a new installation, the vendor devices are unable to be showed by friendly names after added the option in the default section at /etc/multipath.conf.

The server is still showing the devices with the World Wide Identifier (WWID).

In this example, the value "user_friendly_names yes" was added in the /etc/multipath.conf default section.

 

Changes

During initial configuration of new multipath devices and after set the user_friendly_names option in the default section, the server is unable to see the devices with the friendly name.
