Oracle Linux: High Percentage Of ICMP Packet Drops Revealed During Inbound Flood Ping (Doc ID 2393866.1)

Symptoms

 A flood ping sends ping packets to the destination, possibly using a burst of transmissions, and displays a dot (.) for each returned ping echo.  The network is showing an extremely high packet drop rate.  This is denoted by the dot not being displayed.

Changes

The file /etc/sysctl.conf has a line which reads:
