Maximum Memory Size Must Equal Memory Size For HVM And PVHVM Guests (Doc ID 2603868.1)

Last updated on MARCH 05, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.4.1 to 3.4.6 [Release OVM34]
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Per Oracle Manager User's Guide for Release 3.4 document, the maximum memory size value must equal the memory size value for HVM (hardware virtualized) and PVHVM (hardware virtualized with paravirtualized drivers) guests.
If these values are different, the following job failure message is generated.

"The memory limit cannot be different than the current memory size on an HVM Virtual Machine."
However, the PVHVM guest can be set different maximum memory and memory size value in the OVM GUI (graphical user interface) and will take effect.
This symptom is against the Oracle Manager User's Guide.
