Purpose
This document’s purpose is to describe the PCA upgrader tool’s prerequisites, usage, and workarounds.
Scope
This document explains the basic usage of the PCA Upgrader Tool shipped with PCA 2.4.4 and also lists known issues and workarounds.

How to Run |
1. Download and install (or upgrade to) the latest version of pca_upgrader |
1.1. Log into My Oracle Support and download the Oracle PCA 2.4.4 Patch 32982108 |
1.2. Copy the downloaded *.rpm package to both Management Node and install it. |
1.3. If an older version of the Oracle PCA Upgrader is already installed, remove the old version prior to installing the latest version. |
2. Run the pre-upgrade verification |
2.1. Run pca_upgrader in verify-only mode from active Management Node |
2.2. Summary output will be printed to the screen, and information will be logged to /nfs/shared_storage/pca_upgrader/log/pca_upgrader-<timestamp>.log |
2.3. Address any issues and re-run the pca_upgrader in verify-only mode again. Repeat this step until there are no failures reported. |
3. Manual pre-upgrade checks |
3.1. Verify the WebLogic password |
3.2. Verify no External Storage LUNs exist on Management Nodes |
3.3. Check for customized inet settings on MNs |
3.4. Collect the number of objects in the MySQL database |
3.5. Verify Management Node failover |
3.6. Verify the NFS protocol for the internal ZFSSA |
3.7. Check for hardware faults on all components |
3.8. Check Repository Exports |
3.9. Check Fibre Channel Luns/Paths |
3.10. Check iSCSI initiator group (host group) in ZFS Storage controller |
3.11 Check local repository name |
3.12. Validate PCA network |
4. Run the upgrade |
4.1. Run the upgrade of the non-primary management node |
4.2. Run the upgrade of the other Management Node |
4.3. Upgrade Compute Node Software one by one |
5. Manual post-upgrade checks |
