Oracle Linux: Netfilter Drops TCP Packets Due to Conntrack Timeout In NFS Server/Client Environments (Doc ID 2821703.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 03, 2023

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 to Oracle Linux 7.9 [Release OL7 to OL7U9]
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

TCP connection between NFSv4 clients and servers (with Oracle Linux 7 UEK5.4.17-2036.100.6.1) stop working randomly, causing issues.

From the below captured pcap file we can observe:
1) NFS client sends SYN.
2) NFS server responds with SYN-ACK.
3) Client shows no signs of receipt and retransmits SYN.
4) Server responds with SYN-ACK and this goes for around 50 minutes.
