Symptoms
An Oracle Linux 7 (OL7) system running UEK6 kernel 5.4.17-2102.204.4.3.el7uek and utilising XFS filesystems experiences XFS filesystem performance degradation until the system finally becomes unresponsive.
The performance issue occurs soon after commencement heavy XFS filesystem activity where many existing files are appended.
The following system call stack traces, as seen from subsequent vmcore crash analysis, are observed:
