Oracle Linux: NVMe Disks Not Detected Automatically During System Boot In Oracle Linux 8 With UEK6 Kernel (Doc ID 2921718.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2023

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 8.6 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [5.4.17] and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

On Oracle Linux 8 servers running on UEK6 kernel, NVMe namespaces(disks) not detected during system boot. The server is connected to Hitachi VSP 5600H storage NVMe-oF ports through two paths via Emulex LPe36002 adapter. NVM Subsystem is configured in the storage and assigned a few namespaces to the host.

NVMe-oF namespaces (LUNs) are not detected in the host after the system reboot. With the manual command "nvme connect", namespaces can be detected. No errors are recorded in the server logs related to this incident.

Also, this same issue is not observed while using RHCK kernel.
