Oracle Linux: System Time of PowerBroker / Active Directory Managed Server Not In Synch with NTP Server (Doc ID 2929645.1)

Last updated on MARCH 19, 2023

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The system time of an Oracle Linux (OL) system is out of sync with the configured NTP server.

The system was previously configured to utilize Microsoft Active Directory (AD) managed resources using BeyondTrust PowerBroker software.

All other non-PowerBroker-managed OL systems utilizing the same NTP server correctly maintain synchronized time.

An application e.g. SAP may report the error ZDATE_ILLEGAL_LOCTIME, coupled with system log error System time: cannot go back (< 3 sec.).

Changes

The server was configured to utilize various resources from Microsoft Active Directory, including its system time.
