Oracle Linux: Kernel Panic on First Boot after Oracle Linux 7 to Oracle Linux 8 Leapp Migration (Doc ID 3020970.1)

Symptoms

An Oracle Linux 7 (OL7) system is migrated to Oracle Linux 8 (OL8) with latest UEKR7 kernel using the Leapp utility.
Following successful Leapp migration, the system experiences kernel panic when booting the OL8 UEKR7 kernel for the very first time, e.g.:

Above, the menuentry stanzas are missing their initrd lines.

 

Changes

The OL7 system was Leapp migrated to OL8.
