Symptoms


You have the source code to a device driver, but when you try to build a kernel module, you see an error from make(1) similar to:

# make V=1 -C/lib/modules/2.6.9-42.ELsmp/build M=/path/to/driver/directory modules
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'.
Stop.
