Purpose

This article contains a viewlet and a powerpoint presentation (with the narrative in the slide notes section) that explains what the different elements are for a COBOL SQL trace and also how to interpret the trace for the purposes of problem resolution.

Scope

This article is intended for technical and functional people who use Peoplesoft Enterprise products that employ COBOL for processing.  The information assumes only a rudimentary knowledge of tracing and should be useful for anyone who has never been able to read a trace, as well as for those people who understand some basic concepts.  The discussion will be limited to the main body of a trace, and not cover the Timings Summary.
