Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When pinging or otherwise accessing an external Web Service URL over HTTPS protocol, get java.io.IOException saying that HTTPS hostname is wrong in comparison with one in the certificate.

By following these steps the issue can be reproduced:

  1. Sign-on into PIA.
  2. Navigate PeopleTools > Integration Broker > Integration Setup > Node to open the external node.
  3. Switch to Connectors tab and setup HTTP Target Connector with external Web Service URL.
  4. Ping the node.
  5. Check errorLog.html (in PSIGW directory), it will show an error like the following:

java.io.IOException: HTTPS hostname wrong:  should be <*.*.*.*>, but cert says <CN=www.hostname.com, O=City Province, L=City, ST=ProvinceBogota, C=CO>
