E-NV: Receive Error "nVision MacroDir/LayoutDir/DrilldownDir Registry Setting Is Missing Or Invalid" When Running nVision Reports (Doc ID 1341198.1)

Symptoms

When launching nVision via the workstation client or via the Process Scheduler, nVision fails at startup with the following errors:

“The PS/nVision MacroDir registry setting is missing or invalid. Yes to continue. (28,154)”
“The PS/nVision LayoutDir registry setting is missing or invalid. Yes to continue. (28,154)”
“The PS/nVision DrillDownDir registry setting is missing or invalid. Yes to continue. (28,154)”
“The PS/nVision TemplateDir registry setting is missing or invalid. Yes to continue. (28,154)”
Then, I get this:
“The PS/nVision TemplateDir registry setting is missing or invalid. Yes to continue. (28,154)”
Then I get this:
“PS/nVision was unable to start communications with Microsoft Excel. (28,82)”

After hitting "Ok" for each message, nVision and Excel exit.

This error message can occur after a PeopleTools upgrade or after a new workstation install.
