Last updated on APRIL 11, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Payroll for North America - Version 9 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

2022 Year End Processing

Why is box 5 of the 1099R blank?

This box is not currently supported.

The current 1099R process runs separately for each distribution code.  Is the expectation each distribution code file be uploaded to the IRS separately or should the distribution code files be manually combined

Find out what is expected from the IRS to determine what is expected.  We deliver individual files for each Distribution code, so assuming you can submit these separately.

From YE22US9XE.pdf, On Page 137

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The current 1099-R processing does not access the Tax Form Definitions table, and is not designed to handle the reporting of multiple 1099-R distribution codes for a single individual payee.

Therefore, if you are processing sets of 1099-R forms with varying distribution codes, you must ensure that no more than one distribution code is to be reported for any single individual payee.

You must also have a different set of earnings codes for each distribution type and make separate runs with the TAX930PM process for each set.

<Bug 19697784>

Create 1099-R Run Control (1099-R Process Parameters)

The error message generated by the edit on the Distribution Code field on the Create 1099-R run control
(1099-R Process Parameters) is updated to recognize “K” as a valid Distribution Code value.

To see an example of the change see attached.  (Patch 19697784)

Note:  Iowa (code 19) is removed from the list of states participating in the IRS Combined Federa/State Filing Program.

 Delivered in Tax Update 14-F.

2013 Year End Processing

<Bug 17551961>

TAX930PM.SQR is the 1099-R print file for reporting distribution and tax data on Form 1099-R for payees, and a file to report 1099-R data electronically to the IRS.  The program is redelivered with the following modifications for tax year 2013 reporting:

1.    The list of states participating in the IRS Combined Federal / State Filing Program for 1099-R reporting is updated to include Michigan (state code 26) and Vermont (state code 50).

2.    Distribution Code “D” is added to the list of valid Distribution Codes.

3.    In the Payee “B” Record, the Distribution Code field (positions 545-546) is modified to include Distribution Code “D”.

4.    Error message 2000,841 associated with the Distribution Code entered on the
1099-R Process Parameters run control page is revised to add Distribution Code “D” to the list of valid Distribution Codes.  Valid values now include:  1-9, A, B, D-H, J, L, N, P-U, W

See the Special Notes – U.S. section of Tax Update 13-F Notes for an illustration of the revised error message.

Delivered in Tax Update 13-F.

2012 Year End Processing

TAX930PM.SQR produces the 1099-R print file for reporting distribution and tax data on Form 1099-R for payees, and also produces a file to report 1099-R data electronically to the IRS.

The program is updated to comply with the latest reporting specifications published in IRS Publication 1220, Specifications for Filing Forms 1098, 1099, 5498, and W2-G, Electronically (Rev. Proc. 2012-30).

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1220.pdf

  1. The program is modified to correctly report Distribution Codes “F” and “G” on the Payee “B” Record, the End of Payer “C” Record, and the State Totals “K” Record, and to correctly report spaces in positions 409-499 on the Transmitter “T” Record.
  2. The list of states participating in the Combined Federal/State Filing Program is updated to add “07” (Colorado), and to remove “09” (Connecticut) and “47” (Tennessee).

The program is also modified to better evaluate payee address information.  The program looks first for the payee’s mailing address.  If no mailing address is found, then the program looks next for the payee’s home address.  If neither address is found, then the following error message is issued:

“Warning:  Payee(s) with missing addresses (Home or Mailing) are by-passed and not included in the print or IRS files.”

For each occurrence of the above error message, Person ID, payee name, and Social Security Number are provided, to facilitate further research for a valid address.

Prior to the modifications, a payee with no home address information caused the program to abort with the following error message:

“Cannot proceed with program until these Employees have a Home Address Record”.

(Patch Number 13421479) is delivered with Tax Update 12-F.

Form 1099-R is generally used to report retirement plan distributions and related tax payments. PeopleSoft Payroll for North America contains no specific set of pages and records designed to track these types of payment. Consequently, the support provided by our 1099-R processing is limited to reporting only specific periodic distributions and related tax withholding amounts.

PeopleSoft Payroll for North America does not support the reporting or printing of 1099-MISC forms.

Note: Form 1099-R will be produced for a Person of Interest (POI) in a Company for which Tax Reporting Type = 1099R on the Company Table. Form 1099-R will not be produced for a POI in a Company for which Tax Reporting Type = None or Non-employee on the Company Table.

Common Paymaster is not supported for 1099-R processing . 1099-R processing is a stand-alone function, completely outside of and separate from W-2 processing. 1099-R programs do not have access to the W-2 Reporting Company page/functionality which allows wage and tax amounts for multiple companies to be combined and reported under a single company's FEIN.

We do not support a 1099-R correction process.
