E-PG: When Trying to View Pivot Grid Via the Wizard, Receive Error: "PT_PGPACKAGE.PT_PGInformation.OnExecute, PTPG_PGVIEWER.Activate" (Doc ID 1462283.1)

Symptoms

On PeopleTools 8.52.04 when attempting to view the Pivot Grid created from the Pivot Grid Wizard, (step 5), receive error:

"Generic error while executing the Query datasource. (268,91) PT_PGPACKAGE.PT_PGInformation.OnExecute  Name:ExecuteGrid  PCPC:36771  Statement:698Called from:PTPG_PGVIEWER.Activate  Statement:245"

This error can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Login into PIA.
2. Navigate to Reporting Tools > Pivot Grid > Pivot Grid Wizard.
3. Select to add a new value.
4. Enter pivot grid name, PG_TEST1.
5. Click "Add" button.
6. In Step 1 specify a pivot grid title, PG_TEST1.
7. Click "Next" button.
8. In step 2, select PS Query under data source type.
9. Select a query that uses a Union under data source.
10. Select all columns. Click "Next" button.
11. In step 3 leave the default settings.
Under prompt section select:
RUN_CNTL_ID = 'STATEMENT'
OPRID = 'VP1'
CUST_ID LIKE = '<select a valid ID>'
Click "Next" button.
12. In step 4 leave the default settings, but select Grid and Chart under display section.
Click "Next" button.
13. Observe the aforementioned error.

Because of this error, the Pivot Grid Wizard functionality cannot be used.
