Last updated on JUNE 08, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Human Resources - Version 9.1 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Married employees cannot be enrolled in a Canadian Pension Plan without enrolling the spouse as a dependent, although there are regulations requiring that a spouse be made a beneficiary of such a plan only in some Canadian provinces.

Error:  Spouse must be elected as dependent for current coverage code.  Plan Type = 80. (3000,315)

You have chosen a coverage code for which spouse coverage is mandatory. Please add another elected dependent row for the spouse or update the coverage code (option code) to a value for which spouse coverage is not mandatory.

Steps to Replicate:
1. Enroll a married employee in a Canadian Pension Plan (Navigation: Benefits > Enroll in Benefits > CAN-Pension Plans).
